The Farm

Bunderra is located on the outskirts of the Kyneton township.
Bunderra “Amongst the Hills” is nestled on the grassy woodland flats between a series of volcanic hills;
Red Hill, Green Hill, Black Hill and Bald Hill.

Our Mission

At Bunderra our mission is to create a regenerative and low stress family farming enterprise raising animals that we love and are passionate about. Our aim is to find a balance between profitable farming and regenerative eco-systems. We believe farming should be profitable but not at the sacrifice of the soil, the environment and its eco-systems.

Suffolk Rams

Our Animals

We raise grass Suffolk sheep in a rotational grazing system. All our animals are raised in the paddock and are continually moved to fresh grass to allow our pastures to rest and recover before re-introducing our animals back onto the fully rested paddocks.

All our animals are well used to human interaction and are therefore calm and less stressed.

Our Soil

Our soil is our biggest farm asset. Our goal is to rebuild soil biology and structure naturally. For the past few years we have been making our own ‘Active Soil Conditioner/fertiliser’ from worm castings fed by household scraps & farm manures and boom spraying it out onto our fields to increase soil microbiology whilst rotating and resting our pastures. This helps to rebuild soil organic matter by creating sustainable soil & pasture eco-systems aswell as increasing our on-farm carbon sequestion efforts.

Native Revegetation

In 2016 we were awarded a landcare grant to fence out and re-instate 10% of our farmland to indigenous native trees and vegetation through the Kyneton Woodlands Project. This project was just the beginning of our quest to revegetate strategic parts of our land and continues by way of new seedlings and conservation and management every year. We believe that by adding native vegetation we can attract back native animal and plant diversity on our land to better manage the co-existence of a regenerative farm and native eco-system.
